New UU Spiritual Curriculum at UUCH, All Souls - Spirit in Practice

Holly Lux-Sullivan and the Rev. Dick Weston-Jones are leading introductory sessions on a new spiritual curriculum, Spirit in Practice. This new curriculum is being field-tested this winter and spring at 40 UU churches in the U.S. Only 3 are in North Carolina (UUCH and All Souls); the other NC site is Greenville.

Sessions will be held on Apr 6 and 20, May 4 and 18, and Jun 1 and 8. Details will be in each month’s newsletter. If you did not attend one of the introductory sessions on Feb 10 or 17, you can still register by calling Dick Weston-Jones (932-7447).

A $2 donation at each session is requested to cover expenses. If you wish to attend either and need childcare, please call Rev. Dick Weston-Jones (932-7447); otherwise childcare will not be provided at any program.

Help Needed on the Program Committee

Do you like to attend a worship service Sunday morning? Every month the UUCH Program Committee struggles to plan and to populate the worship services.

We want to make the planning more available to UUCH members and friends. The Committee is now meeting the first Sunday of every month at 12:15 pm after the worship service. Everybody is invited.

Please help me to have more members of the Program Committee! Thanks. --Jean-Michel Margot (back to top)

Finance Committee Seeks New Member

The UUCH Finance Committee is the focal point for money matters in the congregation. Members of this small but merry committee receive and deposit the weekly contributions, write and disseminate the congregation's checks, work with the committees to prepare the yearly budget, keep the congregation informed on financial matters and budget status, prepare and mail contribution statements to members and friends, collect and organize money for the auction and other fund raising projects, and participate in the CoCo. We looked around at our last meeting and discovered that there were only 5 of us to do all that.  We desperately need more personpower. If you have an interest in the church's finances, a marginal financial aptitude ( i.e., you can keep a checkbook), minimal computer skills, and the time to attend 1 meeting per month and help with some of the weekly or monthly activities, this is an opportunity for you. Please see Gerald Ponder, Dick Merritt, Carolyn Rhodes, Mike Rosenthal, or Ken Traynham to get more information or sign up. We will teach you everything you need to know. (back to top)

Free Film Series Sponsored by WCC

The films are sponsored by the Welcoming Congregation Committee (WCC) of UUCH and open to people in the Triangle area. Our purpose is to promote understanding and acceptance among people of different sexual orientation and gender identities by providing entertaining and educational films that reflect the issues and concerns of the BGLT community. The films are free and open to the public. Light refreshments are provided. Contact Peg at 919-493-4778 or pegwolfe at mindspring.com. (back to top)

The upcoming films in 2008 are on Sunday evenings at 7 pm:

  • May 18 – TBA

Becoming a Member (UU 101, UU 102)

Are you a newcomer or long-time friend of UUCH who has been thinking about becoming a member? Then take advantage of this no-risk, no-obligation opportunity to learn more about what it means to become a member of UUCH. Come to our 30-minute UU 101 or UU 102 class offered after the service and coffee hour on the second Sunday of every month. If you're ready to become a member of UUCH, you can sign our membership book at the end of the class. If you're undecided and need more time to think about it, that's fine, too. (back to top)
