From the Stewardship Committee

The Stewardship committee needs your help! So far, after two training sessions, we have only eight visiting stewards. That means every visiting steward has too may names of people needing to be visited. Cliff Staton will do a quick training for any committed member or friend willing to be a visiting steward.

Memorial Garden Workday

Our First Memorial Garden workday on 21 January 2012 was a wash out. On Saturday January 28, 2012 we will try again. Garden workday will be from 9 am to 12 pm. For more information contact Brydie Palmore.

 Secret Pal Program

 Secret Pal . The exchange of messages and trinkets between a child or youth with an UUCH adult member or friend during the month of February. The  Secret Pal period is from February 12 to March 4 when the  secret pal will be revealed at our First Sunday Brunch. The  Secret Pal program makes it possible for UUCH adults and children to know each other better. This year there are 14 children in need of a  Secret Pal . As of Sunday morning on 22 January there are still 11  Secret Pals needed. To be a  Secret Pal contact any adult in the RE department.


The Southeast District meeting information is:

When: May 4-5 2012
Where First UU Church Richmond, VA
Topic: Using the theme of Multiplying Ourselves in the 21st Century. We will explore new ways to grow, including the use of social media, virtual small group ministry, UU communities, satellite campuses and other avenues. Our Keynote Speaker will be Tandi Rogers. We can send 2 delegates, (members or friends), an alternate and Patty Hanneman.


The General Assembly meeting information is:
When: June 20 – 24
Where: Phoenix, AZ
Topic: It will be a gathering with multiple ways of engaging in justice work for people of all ages. Joining with the people of Arizona, we will worship, witness, learn and work together. We can send 2 delegates (members only) and an alternate.

To volunteer, contact any member of the CoCo: Patty Hanneman, Nancy Staton, Brydie Palmore, Carolyn Rhode, Tim Woody, Dick Merritt, Terry Schneider, Cliff Staton, Jean-Michel Margot, Shauna Saunders, or Emily Cooper.

It’s back! UUCH once again will present its famous Coffeehouse in March. Mark your calendar for March 16, 2012.

Come enjoy an eclectic program of music, singing, and the spoken word. Talented members of our congregation and others will entertain you. Our coffeehouses last year were great successes. These should carry on that tradition.

The coffeehouses will begin at 7:00 PM. Snacks and drinks will be provided; bring your favorite wine, beer, etc. if you wish. There is a $2.00 per person cover charge to cover expenses.


Volunteers needed for RE
We are still in need of volunteers for RE and nursery. Volunteering iseasy
and requires no preparation.  If you are interested, pleasesign up outside
the RE or nursery doors.  If you have any questions on what isinvolved,
contact Sherri Woody.

A Community Action Message on Immigration
Your help is needed in contacting and informing Congressman Watt and
Senator Hagan that you support this important legislation.
The Uniting American Families Act (H.R. 1024/S. 424) - a bill that would
allow LGBT Americans to sponsor their spouse or partner for an immigration
benefit, with the same process and penalties as straight couples.
